Material-Details: Stainless steel 1.4404 Datasheet

Stainless steel 1.4404 is moulded in the DLM. This means that the component is clean, free of voids or inclusions and 99.8% solid.
The properties of this material can be compared with those of aluminium component.
Parts that are made in this procedure are often more expensive than milled components. However, new possibilities completely emerge through the tool-less production.
Individual pieces and medically useful implants after a previous 3D scanning are thus possible.
Some of the Airbus planes and rockets of the NASA are flying already with serial manufactured 3D printed parts made of 1.2709 or 1.4404.

Price calculation

Unfortunately DLM parts can only be calculated manually.

Typical usage

1.4404 is most often used medically to bsw. To manufacture components for the operating room.
Gladly but mechanical parts are also produced due to rust freedom and high toughness of this material.

Technology

1.4404 is produced in the process of DLM. DLM means Direct Laser Melting and referred the direct melt metal powder to form a component.
There will be no further processing steps unless requires the separation of the print.
The material is subjected to resolve tensions after printing a heat treatment.

The procedure:

Your model is broken down into layers on the computer and sent to the machine.
.Now, a printing bed with exactly this thickness is filled with metal powder. A very strong laser now merges the powder at the locations where your part is to be built.
This occurs under a protected atmosphere of argon or nitrogen.
This process is repeated until your component is manufactured.
The remaining powder is sucked off and cut your part of manuel from the base plate.
As a “Finish“ your part in a heat treatment furnace to anneal it.

The surface of your model is determined by the technology and the chosen material. Therefore, we offer several post-processing steps. This affects the cost but also the quality of your model.

Painted models

Painted 3D printing

Of course, you can also paint models from Stainless steel 3D.
Here, the quality and RAL color can be chosen. The basic version of the painting is a simple "Spray Paint"
This means that your part is lightly sanded and then painted. Construction stages and the similar are still easily recognizable.
The highest quality is the quality in premium (enamel). This "polishing" must be booked with.
Your part is sanded, polished, filled, wet sanded and painted.

  • Need a minimum of 10 x 10 x 10 mm
  • Price: 30% of the part price for base coating. Polishing service additional for premium book.
  • In Paint 2 working days must be separately taken into account.

Coating

Coating of 3D printing

Stainless steel parts can be also wonderful coat.
For this purpose, your model is ground and then coated with your desired material. Here also a coating with as gold or silver is possible.

  • We can coat only parts of 10 x 10 x 10 mm to 600 x 600 x 600 mm. Larger parts on demand.
  • Handling fee 12 € / order
  • Hand galvanizing.
  • Order thickness from 1 µm
