Material-Details: Brass Datasheet

Brass is a cheap alternative to parts made of gold. A very good gloss is produced by polishing.
Due to the possibility of gold plating can be made “Gold pieces“ for a fraction of the price of a full gold piece.

Price calculation

Brass is calculated in cm³. Always polished brass will be delivered.
An additional handling fee per model is necessary because a lot of manual work is involved in the production..

  • 30 € / cm³

Typical usage

Brass is commonly used as a substitute for gold parts such as Jewelry. Usually it is coated.

Technology

Brass is made in the so-called "lost wax" process.
Here your component is printed by SLA in a special Castingwax and then poured classic.

The procedure:

Your model is disassembled by a program into individual layers of 0.05 mm.
Now a plate lowered into a bath of wax casting.
On this record, a UV laser now starts to "draw the contours and shapes of the parts". At all points in which the laser meets the Resinbad, the material hardens.
Now the build platform lowers to a layer thickness down and a slide provides new material on its surface.
This process is repeated to layer by layer until your component is finished.
During the construction process your component rests on the insulators.
These are manually removed after the printing process, and sanded.
Your part is now placed in a mold and with a casting substance poured around. After this mass is cured, the printed part is melted off (hence the term 'Lost Wax').
Now the resulting cavity is poured with molten brass. Thy portion is broken after curing from the mold and the sprue is removed. Then it'll be further post processing steps such as polishing and grinding.

Brass can be reworked only on a few species. Our standard brass is equipped with a surface sealing made of PU, to protect it against oxidation.
For brass, we offer however, some of coatings for a fixed price!

  • Gold-Plated Yellow Gold : 7,50 € per part
  • Gold-Plated Red gold : 7,50 € per part
  • Color coated black gloss : 18 € per part
